Hi I’m Sue. I’m 68 years old and retired.
I developed an interest in Mandala painting just prior to our first lockdown in the UK. My first efforts were quite clumsy and simplistic but as time went along I corrected my blunders watched many inspirational videos and pursued an ever increasing fascination with this art.
I also had a passing interest in spirituality which became more and more involved in my work as each week passed. As I painted I began to realise that although every intricate design ended up being staggeringly more beautiful slight errors were made during the process. Being a perfectionist at heart this irritated me but after many paintings I began to realise that i was receiving spiritual guidance through my art. I was taught that my paintings were beautiful and not to focus on any slight imperfections but to step back in admiration of the whole picture. I then realised that the same is true of how we judge one another. Instead of focussing on mistakes, the imperfections of another person we should look at one another as being wonderful beings, each with a story to tell, despite any past errors that may have occurred.
Every day I discover more ‘truths’ through my art. It is truly a form of meditation. It is the most marvellous way of connecting with the creator and I thank god for the beauty I have found within.
