This was a really dilapidated half moon mahogany table, the legs and original plinth unfortunately were beyond repair, so I gave it three beautiful black hairpin legs which brings it back into trend.
The original table top had a torn and badly damaged leather insert and after lots of scraping out and sanding it gave a base for some acrylic pouring with string art work which I feel gives a real Art Deco flavour to the table.
The surrounding framed is a mixture of black and all the metallic metal paints which gives a deep bronze finish with a bit of glint and sparkle to it.
I have levelled the table top with several layers of clear casting resin which gives it a beautiful smooth and glossy finish, as working with resin is often unforgiving, there are some very slight dimples but as you can see from the photos they are not visible unless you get down to eye level and look very close.
The underside of the table has been hand sanded by me to the best I could bring it, and I have painted it with Renovation Panelling Paint in Pebble Satin which is a bluey – grey colour. There are bits of dried resin on the edges of the underside and I have not chipped this off as there is a danger that it could crack up the resin on top so I have left these as they are and again they are not visible as they are underneath. I tell you all this so that you know what you are buying fully. It is a unique one off piece of furniture which makes a real talking point and something to envy.
I finished the underside with my name and signature given that this is a piece of art work built into a recycled piece of furniture.
