‘They Danced by the Light of the Moon’ – Limited Edition 9 ONLY (signed and numbered)
This limited edition hand printed original lino cut was inspired by the nonsense poem by Edward Lear: ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’. It is a multi-layer reduction print with added gold and silver painted detail.
This print depicts a scene from the third verse. Owl and Pussycat were married by the turkey who lived on the hill and used Piggy-wig’s ring for the marriage ceremony. After their wedding feast of mince and quince they celebrate by dancing on the sand in the light of the moon. In my print turkey uses owl’s guitar to provide the music, owl dances ecstatically and pussycat’s tail betrays feelings of love and happiness…
If you’d like all three of my Owl and Pussycat prints as a set (each print depicts a scene from a different verse of the poem) please see my separate listing to ensure you receive prints with matching numbers (eg: 2/9 on each print) and also a discounted price.
